Oops! Amazon accidentally posted a video on their YouTube channel promoting “Amazon Clinic,” a possible new healthcare service, but they quickly removed this video.
The video purported to be for an online care program treating common conditions like allergies and acne by filling out a paid form about the symptoms that a clinician would later review to provide a diagnosis and prescription.
Christina Smith, an Amazon spokesperson, declined to comment regarding the video leak.
The program presented Amazon with a backup plan after the company announced that its first telehealth service, Amazon Care, would be discontinued a few months ago. Initially designed for Amazon employees, the program was later made available to any company that wanted to offer it to its staff.
This action followed their announcement that they were purchasing primary care provider One Medical. However, it needed to be clarified from the video whether or not they would be integrated with One Medical.
However, tech companies are still trying to figure out how to navigate the murky healthcare industry. Based on the path it takes, Amazon Clinic could be a new approach to the problem, focusing on the customer experience rather than trying to provide care itself.
